We are proud to announce that we have just taken on a selection of these hot foil machines. Made in China to a high standard of engineering.
These are flat bed machines and if you are familiar with the larger KOBO Style machines, they are not unsimilar to these but have many added features that the KOBO does not incorporate on many of their models.
Main features
A large 7 x 4 inch print area
Accurate digital temperature control
Motorised foil winding system
Massive 7” Throat capable of printing onto large objects and boxes
Compact footprint and table top machine design
Variable ‘X’ and ‘Y’ Table adjustments for accurate lining up of work
Ideal for a beginner in a home/office situation or for industrial use
Toggle Action control with ease of use and pressure setting
These machines are brand new but from old stock. In other words they have never been used , but were imported into this country approx 4 years ago and have been stored awaiting a buyer. Ever Bright still produce machines and should you require spares (most unlikely) these can be obtained through Ever Bright or through RS Components in the UK.
Recommended retail price is £1750 + VAT but because these are new ‘old’ stock we can offer a generous discount and are selling them at £1450 + VAT a saving of £300 per machine.
In addition we shall provide you with a FREE days training at our unit in Droitwich, Worcestershire at a cost of £125 + VAT making a total saving of over £400.00. We have limited stocks of these machines currently so it is on a first come first serve basis
The machines would ideally suit :-
Bookbinders
Diary Blockers
Greetings and Christmas Card Makers
Printers of Foil onto Boxes, Cartons and Jewellery Boxes
Pen Printers
General Foil Blockers

Sublimation or Toner Hot Foil Printing
Foiltech FT10 and Foil Ikon 320S
Omnicrom machines first came into this country back in the early 1980’s they were hailed as revolutionary as for the first time you could hot foil print onto paper or card without a block or die, thus giving you true one off images foiled for a fraction of the cost of standard hot foil printing. The only draw back was the cost of the foil at approx £1 per sheet of A4 that could make it very expensive. These machines were favoured by graphic designers who wanted to produce one off images and a lot were sold to production and graphic design companies and for some strange reason many were sold to police forces up and down the country (to be honest I don’t know why). Another drawback of the machine was that they were slow and you could only put one sheet through at a time and this could be laborious.
Machines available were the Omnicrom CT300 – CT500 – CT1000 – CT2000 and 5000
Now move on 25 years and we now have two new generations of machines for Sublimation Hot Foil Printing.
So how does Sublimation Foil Printing work?
The principle is really quiet simple. From your computer design a document with words and pictures if required and then print it off on a Laser printer or photocopier NOT an inkjet printer (it will not work with inkjet printers) the reason is that you will be using special foil that adheres to the plasticides in the Toner and under heat the foil will stick to the toner. Turning your black toner whatever the colour of the foil used. You can also use coloured toner to achieve the same results , but there is no point as it is far more expensive and the various colours will be obliterated by the single foil colour.
Firstly the Foiltech FT10
Working on the same principle as the Omnicrom, but this machine is semi-automated. This means you don’t have to cut up a piece of foil and then place and secure it on a page each time. The foil is on a reel to reel roll and is automatically put on over your image saving you time and wastage and speeding up the process considerably.
This machine is ideal for the Greetings Card or Wedding Cards Designers to either test out their designs in foil before going into production or for foiling one off either cards or personalised inserts without the need for expensive plates to be made. The beauty of this machine is that every single item you put through can be totally different and it will just cost you the price of the foil no more around 8 pence per A4 sheet , compared with the Omnicrom foil that used to cost around £1.00 per sheet.
If you want to make Certificates or Trophy Cards the same applies thus making it clean , quick simple and cheap (sorry hate the word cheap…inexpensive). The system also works really well on sheet label (self adhesive material) turning your labels any metallic colour you like.
If you have a good photocopier or Laser printer you will be able to print onto card (same digital copiers and Laser printers will take upto 350 gram stock) then these can be put through the Foiltech FT10.
Also available are larger versions of this machine with semi auto feeds for full scale production and many companies are using them now to produce all there greetings cards and wedding stationery.
Around 22 colours of foil are available including holographic foils colours include
Gold, Matt Gold, Silver, Matt Silver, Copper, Greens, Blues, Turquoise Red, Violet, Purple, Black and White.
Clear foil is now available which can be placed over a colour digital style image to give you a spot varnish effect for a fraction of the cost of a litho spot varnish.
The machine is table top and can sit next to your computer taking up about the same amount of room as your desktop printer.

Foil Ikon 320S
The Foil Ikon works on the same principle as the Foiltech FT10 but instead of a reel to reel auto foil feed system you manually put through a sheet of foil on top of each piece of paper that goes through the machine which will cope with upto an A3 image.
Whilst slower the whole system is about 1/3 rd of the price which makes it a superb entry level model ideal for those crafters and stationery designers who have a slightly smaller amount of work.
The machine features a variable speed and heat control that are essential for sublimation foil printing as well as a reverse button if required. In addition to this the machine will also laminate any A3 item using laminating pockets so once you have foil printed your item you can encapsulate it as well.

Although this list covers most of the common models and makes of hand operated hot foil machines that were sold in to the British Market place you will find other models around.
I have purposely left out of this table the PrintUK models these were very poorly made especially the 10 x 8 platen which in my honest opinion is useless and only prints effectively upto a 5 x 3 inch print area and is a poor copy of another machine. Sometimes the small Printuk machines are in fact Magmarks with a different badge please ask for more details
Other machine you may come across are Handstars by PB & E, Howards, Franklins, SLE3000, Kensol, Weldon, whilst they were sold in small quantities they are available and ask for more details.
Marshalls also made many other models that we have not featured in this table.
Some machines have better uses for some types of printing than others for example Platen machines are often better for the printing of:- Paper, Card,Business cards, Greetings & Wedding Stationery, Coasters, Tax Disc holders, but will also print happily, Diaries, Pens, Pencils, Keyfobs and they are generally good all round machines.
Flatbeds are good often for larger work as well as book covers (bookbinding), Keyfobs, thicker items that require a large throat depth such as boxes, lids, electrical components, napkins, pens and pencils. They will also happily print wedding stationery, greetings cards, business cards, ribbons etc… but this tends to be slightly slower than the platen style machines. |
